A funny summer with ice cream stick

2015-11-06

This summer, my baby learned to do craft work with ice cream stick and guided me. It is an very interesting and active thing worth you do with your baby together.

Among all craft works, the popsicle stick house is our favorite, here we want to share it.

Before we do the popsicle house, we should be clear that, a basic house is completed with a roof, window, and chimney, then we can do it as following:

Firstly, Lay sticks side by side: use half-sticks to make space for windows and doors. On two opposing walls, join sticks by gluing support sticks across ends; these provide a surface for gluing to adjacent walls. Glue center supports on remaining walls and where you will have windows.

Secondly, glue together half-sticks and whole stick as well lay out half-sticks: glue on a diagonal support stick and bead doorknob. Glue stacked half-sticks together to make doorstep. Glue windows and window box to walls. For hinge, glue ribbon to door and door frame. Glue walls together.

Thirdly, for chimney, cut two wide craft sticks into shapes as shown; glue together at sides. Glue edge of one roof side to the flat side of one A-frame; glue other roof side to same frame. Glue on second A-frame. Glue on chimney. Set roof on house.

For extra-long roofs and walls, such as the ones pictured on the ice-pop stand, just add more support sticks.

Lastly, lay together smaller walls that have support sticks on sides; glue on half-sticks at center to join them together.
